Beezie Madden wins Longines Grand Prix Port of Rotterdam

Two weeks of great equestrian sports in mostly sold out arena

Rotterdam, August 28th 2011 – The American Beezie Madden today won for the second time the Longines Grand Prix Port of Rotterdam. In a jump off with nine other riders Beezie and her horse Coral Reef Via Volo were faster than Jeroen Dubbeldam (NED) who ended second with BMC Van Grunsven Simon, Carsten Otto Nagel (GER) who was third with Corradina and Sugitani Taizo (JPN) who finished fourth with Avenzio 3.

They all had two clear rounds as well. The arena today was sold out, as well as most of the past two weeks when there were the FEI EC Dressage 2011 from August 17th till August 21st and the 63rd CHIO Rotterdam from August 24th till today.

Compared to her previous win in 1999, Beezie Madden experienced everything advanced a lot: “The show grounds improved significantly and did great despite all the rain that has fallen today and over the past days.” says the happy winner. “Our horses became lighter, faster and more careful.” The course designer Santiago Varela had a great time in Rotterdam. He learned a lot from these top level riders and feels well prepared for the FEI EC Jumping in Madrid in a few weeks.

President of the CHIO Rotterdam and the organizing committee Frans Lavooij looks back at two good weeks of great sports and hopes the CHIO Rotterdam has contributed to the establishment of a new infrastructure at the Kralingse Bos for the next decade of equestrian sports.
