This yea CHIO Rotterdam will again will be part of the Europe Division 1 of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™2020, in which usually the strongest countries compete. The FEI allocated CHIO Rotterdam to the teams of reignig European Champion Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, 2019 winner Ireland, Sweden and of course the Netherlands. Furthermore the teams from the United States of America and Japan are invited to come to Rotterdam.

The competition is halfway when it comes to Rotterdam. Europe Division 1 kicks off in La Baule (FR) than moves to St Gallen (SUI), continues in Sopot (POL) and than Rotterdam. After the CHIO Rotterdam only Falsterbo (SWE), Dublin (IRE) and Hickstead (UK) remain. After the Olympics, from Oct 1 - 4th, the finals will be in Barcelona.

Rotterdam may become the dress rehearsal for many teams as the circumstances are equivalent to Tokyo. Olympic course designer Santiago Varela will be responsible for the course in Rotterdam, supported by our regular course designer Louis Konickx. The footing in Rotterdam will also be similar to what the riders may expect inTokyo.

The Dutch team will have to collect their points this year in La Baule, Sopot, Rotterdam and Dublin. Even this will be their home turf, the competition will be tough for the riders in orange. Many countries will use Rotterdam as one of the final observations and send their strongest riders as the registration for the Olympics will close after Falsterbo. Up to chef d'equipe Rob Ehrens to come with a smart strategy.
