Rabobank Rotterdam launched a new compact version of Brasserie 2050 during the Longines FEI European Championships Jumping, Dressage and Para-Dressage Rotterdam 2019. Brasserie 2050 is the name of a food concept serving the world food problems in an easy digestible manner. With honest but delightful dishes each with their own story or dilemma.

This new version of Brasserie 2050, is a selfservice concept winking to the future by serving not only tasteful dishes but also food for thought. How will we feed nearly 10 billion people? The menu of Brasserie 2050 (Rotterdam) presents a selection of three cold dishes which are compiled in a sustainable manner. Taste is still most important but the chef has used less meat which makes there is fewer CO2 emission. Each of the dishes comes with an explanation about the sustainability of the dish or its ingredients.

"At 2050 we are with 10 billion people on earth. To keep up with the growth of the world population we have to increase the food production by 60% and reduce the ecological impact of that food production by 50%," says Remon Blok, director Food & Agri at Rabobank Rotterdam. "It is neccesary that we eat differently and grow and produce food in a different way. Within our ambition ‘Growing a better world together’ we're working on some kick starts, such as Kick-start Food. Brasserie 2050 allows us to show a wide audience how this works and more important how it tastes."

Brasserie 2050 will be implemented by Legacy Partner Maison van den Boer at the Longines FEI European Championships: “It's evident that the food standard for food consumption needs to change drastically in the next coming 50 years if we want to pass a healthy and livable world to the next generations." This requires multiple actions where structural more vegetable food consumption and 50% food waste reduction are the biggest challenges in event catering. Maison van den Boer is pioneering in several ways on sustainable improvements, that's why at different places you will see sustainable food concepts and event concepts and that's also why Maison van den Boer participates in the Rabobank Food Waste Challenge with two permanent catering locations.
