The KNHS and CHIO Rotterdam have agreed that the beautiful competition in Rotterdam will keep the O-status for another four years. This O-status means that the only official international jumping and dressage competition for seniors in the Netherlands will be held in Rotterdam. At the moment the Longines FEI European Championships Jumping, Dressage and Para Dressage are being held on the grounds of the CHIO Rotterdam.

Belle de Bruin (chairman of CHIO Rotterdam) and Maarten van der Heijden (technical director of the KNHS) signed the agreement between both parties on Wednesday 21st of August in Rotterdam.

Maarten van der Heijden explains: "Every national federation may register one competition per discipline at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) for the organisation of an official country competition. As KNHS, we have a lot of faith in CHIO Rotterdam and are therefore happy that we can extend our cooperation again. The current agreement on the 'O' status runs until 2020. The new agreement runs until 2024, the year of the Olympic Games in Paris."

Because of the European Championships, that are now being held in Rotterdam, the country competitions were, this year only, successfully organised during the CSI Geesteren.

Belle de Bruin, chairman of CHIO Rotterdam: "Our organization is pleased that we have extended the O-status agreement until 2024. An official Nations jumping competition has been held in Rotterdam since 1948 and we are the oldest international top sports event in Rotterdam. The status of CHIO fits in perfectly with that, we are proud of that and very happy with it."
