Another reason for the Dutch home crowd to celebrate on the first day of CHIO Rotterdam 2025. Logan Fiechter and D-Iness Z took the win in the Dura Vermeer Prize, a 5* jumping competition in two phases. His compatriot Hessel Hoekstra was a very close second. American rider Aaron Vale completed the podium.

In a strong field of competitors, 54 combinations entered the Rotterdam Arena in their bid to win the Dura Vermeer Prize. For quite some time, it seemed like Hoekstra would be today's winner. With VDL Helena van de Perbeemd, he produced a very quick time of 35.60 seconds in phase 2.

Aaron Vale and grey gelding Styles came close, but couldn't best Hoekstra's time: they finished phase 2 in 36.07 seconds. But Logan Fiechter, 19 years old, rose to the occasion: with D-Iness Z he managed to set a time that was just a few hundredths of a second faster than Hoekstra's. The combination finished phase 2 in 35.53 seconds to take home the trophy.
